M6.1DIII OFF-SEASON | CYPRUS
The ultimately cancelled Manifesta 6 ‘school as biennial’ project, scheduled for Nicosia in late 2006 galvanized a smaller group to make a trip to Cyprus independently. While dialoging with individuals on both sides of the Cypriot border it became clear how ingrained, yet stagnant the issues surrounding conflict are. This sculptural response doesn’t address the very complex politics of the situation, but offers a subtle commentary on the need for innovation and resilient structures in situations of dischord.
